Controls

Controller buttons in Rare OS, quick settings, getting back from a game, the on-screen keyboard, and how each web game takes input.

Everything in Rare Launcher works with the controller. Button names follow the Xbox layout. The hint bar at the bottom of the screen always shows what the buttons do where you are.

Buttons in Rare Launcher

D-pad, left stick	Move focus. Hold to keep moving

B	Back. Focus returns to where you came from
LB / RB	Previous / next tab: Home, Library, Sui Games, Wallet, Trade, Marketplace, Settings
LT / RT	Jump through long lists
X	The screen's own action, such as the filter in Library or the sort in the trophy case
Y	Search: installed games, Sui games and marketplace collections. In Trade it searches coins

View	Open Steam (Big Picture) for the store, friends and community

Hold Guide	The Running list: resume or close what is running

When a notice pops up under the top bar, Menu opens it. A always stays with the page, so a notice never takes a press meant for Play.

On the SuiPlay0X1, the quick access key also opens quick settings.

Trade has its own controls for charts and order panels. The hint bar shows them on each Trade screen.

Guide and game shortcuts

These work while a game is running:

Guide	Back to Rare Launcher, with the game still running. Play or Resume brings it back
Hold Guide	The Running list, with Resume and Quit game for each game, and Close for apps
Guide + A	Quick settings
Guide + Y	Save a screenshot
Guide + View	Save the last 30 seconds as a clip

Steam's own Guide shortcuts are left alone, so they work in Steam games as usual, and the Steam overlay works like on a Steam Deck. See Share for screenshots and clips.

Rare's quick settings open in Rare Launcher. To use them during a game, press Guide, change what you need, and resume. Showing quick settings on top of a running game is planned.

Quick settings

Quick settings is a panel on the right. Open it with Menu, Guide + A, or the SuiPlay's quick access key. Close it with Menu.

Turn interface sounds and rumble on or off in Settings, System.

On-screen keyboard

The keyboard opens whenever a text field needs typing, such as a Wi-Fi password, a wallet address or a games folder.

The bottom row has Shift, Space, Paste, Delete and Done.

In web games, the keyboard opens on A or a tap on a visible text field, or with View. When no field is focused, it sends key presses to the game, which helps word games.

Per-game input

Steam games

Steam games launch through Steam, so Steam Input applies. Change a game's controller layout in Steam.

Web games

Each Sui web game has a profile that sets how the controller reaches it. The game's page in Rare shows which mode it uses and a short controls note.

Focus	Controller picks buttons	The d-pad moves a ring over the game's own buttons and A presses them. Used by word and card games
Keys	Controller as keyboard	Buttons become keyboard keys and the right stick moves a pointer. The default

In keys mode, unless the game's profile changes them:

The SuiPlay's touchscreen works as touch in every web game. Every web game page also has Open in Google Chrome as a fallback.
