The Sui games catalog that rare.market and Rare OS read, every field of a games.json entry, and how a game's status is decided.
rare.market keeps one catalog of Sui games. The Games pages on rare.market and the Sui Games screen in Rare OS both read it, so a listed game shows up in both places, with its collections, token and play link.
Where the catalog lives
The catalog is a single public JSON file, a list of game entries:
https://rare.market/games/games.jsoncurl https://rare.market/games/games.json- rare.market shows each game at
https://rare.market/games/<slug>, with floor and volume for its NFT collections. Collection pages link back to the game. - Rare OS reads the live file at runtime, so a status change reaches players without a launcher update. Games with status
liveorbetashow as games and on Home; the rest wait under Coming.
Fields
Every entry in the catalog carries all of these fields. playUrl is the only one that is left out when it does not apply.
Readers are lenient: an entry without a string slug and name is dropped, and a missing studio, genre, platforms, collections, sources, token or featured falls back to an empty value. The catalog itself always fills them.
Collections
nftType is the full Move type, for example 0x09af...6f00::pawtato::LAND. rare.market matches types without leading zeros in the address and in lowercase, so either form works. List every NFT type that belongs to your game; each one gets its floor and volume on the game page.
Where the game plays
For the Play button in Rare OS, the launcher picks the first of:
- the
playUrlin your game's Rare OS profile (see Per-game profiles), - the catalog
playUrl, if it starts withhttps://, - the catalog
website, ifplatformsincludesweband it starts withhttps://.
Set playUrl when your game plays somewhere other than your website, such as a play. subdomain.
Status
A website that loads proves nothing. A game counts as alive only if at least one of these holds:
- players are active on chain,
- it can be played now,
- the team ships: official posts in the last 30 days that show the game running.
Statuses are rechecked about once a month. A paused or dead game comes back as soon as it is alive again.

For web games, Rare runs each title the way the launcher does, in Chrome and in WebKit, and checks that the page loads, that Rare Wallet registers and that controller input arrives in the game's input mode.
